Expense Claim Form Builder
List your expenses and business mileage and get a tidy claim with totals by category and the mileage worked out at HMRC’s approved rates, ready to print, sign and submit.
About this tool
Add each expense with its date, a description that would make sense to someone else, a category and the amount, and say whether you have the receipt. Business mileage in your own vehicle is paid at HMRC’s approved mileage allowance payments: 45p a mile for cars and vans for the first 10,000 business miles in the tax year, then 25p; 24p a mile for motorcycles and 20p for bicycles, with an optional 5p a mile per passenger. Enter the business miles you’ve already claimed since 6 April and the tool switches to 25p at the right point.
Ordinary commuting between home and your usual workplace isn’t business travel, so it can’t be claimed. Your employer can pay less than the approved rates (you can then claim tax relief on the difference) but if they pay more, the extra is taxable. Check your own expenses policy for limits and deadlines. Print the claim to sign and attach receipts, or download it. Your claim is remembered on this device.
