Questions and answers
- Do these generators make me more likely to win?
- No. Every combination of numbers has exactly the same chance in a fair draw, whether it comes from a generator, a lucky dip or your family's birthdays. What a random pick can do is avoid popular patterns, such as dates (numbers up to 31) or lines on the playslip, which many other people choose, so if you do win you're less likely to share the jackpot.
- What's the difference between the Lotto, Thunderball and Set For Life generators?
- They follow each game's rules. Lotto is 6 numbers from 59, and since June 2026 each line plays in two rounds a night. Thunderball is 5 numbers from 39 plus a Thunderball from 14, for a fixed £500,000 top prize. Set For Life is 5 from 47 plus a Life Ball from 10, with a top prize of £10,000 a month for 30 years. The Lottery Odds Calculator compares their odds side by side.
- Why does the Powerball generator show two sets of odds?
- Powerball's jackpot odds are the same everywhere, at 1 in 292,201,338, but UK players get an extra fixed £8 prize for matching two main numbers. That makes the odds of winning something about 1 in 13 in the UK, compared with about 1 in 25 in the US.
- How is the Memorable Lottery Number Generator different from the others?
- The standard generators pick every number at random. The memorable generator uses details you enter, such as birthdays, door numbers and a favourite number, for at least three numbers in each set and fills the rest at random. It deliberately allows only one set a day and remembers your past sets so you never get the same one twice.
- How should a syndicate split a win?
- Agree the rules in writing before you play, including how many shares each person holds and what happens if someone misses a payment. The Syndicate Share Calculator then divides any win by shares or by the amount each person paid in, in whole pennies, with any leftover pennies shared out fairly so the total always matches.
About these tools
Each generator picks numbers uniformly at random from that game's real official range, using the same unbiased shuffle used elsewhere on this site (a Fisher–Yates shuffle for the main numbers). Nothing is weighted towards "overdue" numbers or away from recently drawn ones — every number, and every combination of numbers, has exactly the same chance of being picked, because that's also true of the real draw. These tools don't buy, register or check tickets; they only suggest numbers for you to enter yourself if you choose to play.
