Incorrect Barcode Scanned Adjuster

When staff scan (or multiply) one product instead of ringing up each item in a mixed sale, it's quicker at the till but leaves stock records wrong. Group the products that regularly get mixed up, log each mix-up as it's noticed, and this works out the stock correction each product needs — including untangling it across more than two products at once.

1. Groups of commonly mixed-up products

Put products together that get scanned/selected for each other by mistake — usually because they look alike, sit next to each other, or share a price point.

2. Log a mix-up

3. Reconcile a whole group's stocktake gaps

Enter each product's stocktake variance for this group (positive = more counted than expected / surplus, negative = less counted than expected / shortage). Useful when more than two products in a group might be confused with each other.

4. Correction totals so far

5. Full log

About this tool

A positive stock adjustment means add that many units back onto the stock record (the till over-deducted that product); a negative adjustment means deduct further units (the till under-deducted it, because it left the shop but was never rung in). With just two products in a group this is usually an obvious +N / -N pair. With more than two, the stocktake gap reconciler pairs off the largest gaps first as a plausible explanation — flagged clearly as a suggestion, not a certainty — and shows what's left once mix-ups are accounted for, which may be genuine shrinkage, miscounting, or theft worth investigating further.
