About this tool

Expected goals, or xG, is the chance a shot has of being scored, based on thousands of similar shots: 0.1 means one in ten shots like it goes in. Add up every shot and you get a team's xG, which shows the quality of chances they created, not just how many goals they scored. A team that wins 1–0 with 0.4 xG against 2.1 rode its luck.

This estimator works from where each shot was taken: the closer and more central, the wider the goal looks and the higher the xG. Headers are harder to score, a clear one-on-one or open goal is easier, and every penalty counts as 0.76. Mark each shot's team, tick the ones that went in, and use the list to change the type. It's a simple model for grassroots matches and match reports, so expect professional data providers' figures to differ a little. Your shot map is saved on this device.
