About this tool
The sizes are the FA's recommended pitch and goal dimensions for youth and adult football. They're given in yards with goals in feet, as the FA publishes them, and converted to metres on request. Leagues can allow a range around these figures, so check your league or county FA handbook. The FA recommends a different line colour for each format (red for 5v5, yellow for 7v7, blue for 9v9 and white for 11v11), so several pitches can share one field without confusion.
To mark out square corners, set out one touchline and one goal line, then check both diagonals: when they're the same length (the figure shown), the pitch is square. A builder's 3-4-5 triangle (3 m along one line, 4 m along the other, 5 m across) gets the first corner right. The line total is an estimate to help you order paint.
