About this tool

Law 7 of the Laws of the Game says the referee should add on all the time lost in each half to substitutions, assessing and removing injured players, time-wasting, cards, goal celebrations, VAR checks and reviews, drinks or cooling breaks and any other delay. The fourth official's board shows the minimum added time, in whole minutes, and the referee can play longer if there are more stoppages during added time.

The seconds for each type are typical figures; change them if you timed the stoppages yourself. Since 2023 many competitions, including the Premier League, have tried to add the actual time lost rather than a rule of thumb, so long goal celebrations and VAR reviews often push added time to eight minutes or more. If you logged VAR checks with the VAR Review Timer, pull the total in with one tap.
