About this tool

A User-Agent string is the line of text your browser sends with every request to describe itself. It's famously messy: for historical reasons Chrome's includes the word “Safari”, Edge's includes both “Chrome” and “Safari”, and browsers now deliberately freeze parts of it for privacy, so every Mac reports macOS 10.15.7 and Windows 10 and 11 look identical. This parser checks the most specific browsers first (Edge, Opera, Samsung Internet and others before Chrome, and Chrome before Safari), and also spots in-app browsers, rendering engines and common crawlers such as Googlebot.

Where your browser supports User-Agent Client Hints, the accurate version reported by your own browser is shown underneath. Treat any User-Agent as a hint rather than proof: it can be changed in developer tools or by extensions, and anyone can pretend to be a search-engine bot. For deciding what a browser can do, feature detection (see the Browser Feature Detector) is more reliable.
