About this tool
A glove size is the distance around your hand at the knuckles, leaving out the thumb, in inches. The same number is used in the UK, Europe and the US, so a size 8½ fits a hand measuring about 21.5 cm. Letter sizes are smaller for women’s gloves than men’s.
Measure your dominant hand, which is usually slightly bigger. Leather gloves give a little with wear, while ski and work gloves are often cut roomier, so check the maker’s chart for specialist gloves.
