About this tool

A clean recording's waveform should average out to silence (zero) over time. DC offset is when every sample is nudged up or down by a constant amount, usually from a hardware fault in the recording chain — it wastes headroom and can cause an audible click wherever the file is cut or looped. Correcting it just subtracts that constant from every sample.
