Print-Safe Colour Checker
Screens show colours with light (RGB); printers lay down ink (CMYK), and some bright screen colours simply can't be reproduced in print. Check a colour and get an approximate CMYK conversion plus a flag if it's likely to look muted or shifted when printed.
About this tool
The check compares your colour with a simplified model of what four-colour (CMYK) printing on coated paper can reproduce, built from the standard colour values of cyan, magenta, yellow and their overprints for the ISO 12647-2 printing condition that FOGRA39, the common European profile, is based on. If your colour is more vivid than that range allows at the same lightness and hue, it’s pulled in to the nearest printable version, and the difference is measured with CIEDE2000 (ΔE).
It's a rough guide, not a substitute for a proper colour-managed proof — very bright, saturated screen colours (neon greens, electric blues, vivid oranges) are the most likely to shift noticeably. Uncoated paper prints a smaller range still, so expect more dulling there. The CMYK numbers shown are the simple, profile-free conversion; your design software and printer will produce slightly different ones.
