UK Public/Bank Holiday Lookup
Bank holidays for England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland in any year, including Easter, substitute days and one-off royal holidays.
About this tool
Choose England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, and a year, to see every bank holiday with its date and day of the week. The next one is highlighted, with a countdown. Each nation has its own list. Scotland has 2 January and St Andrew's Day (30 November), and its summer bank holiday is the first Monday of August rather than the last, but no Easter Monday. Northern Ireland adds St Patrick's Day (17 March) and the Battle of the Boyne (12 July).
When a fixed-date holiday such as Christmas Day falls at a weekend, the next free weekday becomes a substitute holiday, following the same rule the government uses. One-off changes are included too: the early May holiday moved to Friday 8 May for the VE Day anniversaries in 1995 and 2020, the spring holiday moved for the 2002, 2012 and 2022 jubilees, and extra days were added for royal events such as the 2023 coronation. Future one-off holidays are announced by the government, so check gov.uk for any added after this page was updated.
