Common Breakpoint Reference

The default responsive breakpoints used by Bootstrap 5 and Tailwind CSS, plus common device size categories, all in one place.

Your current window width: —

Bootstrap 5 (default breakpoints)

Bootstrap's grid breakpoints are min-width values — these are the out-of-the-box defaults and can be customised per project via Sass variables.

Tailwind CSS (default breakpoints)

Tailwind's default breakpoints are also min-width values. Tailwind v4 defines them in rem (sm is 40rem, which is 640px at the default font size) and lets you change them with --breakpoint-* variables in your CSS; v3 used tailwind.config.js.

Common device size categories

Rough, commonly-cited viewport width ranges for real device classes — actual device widths vary widely, so treat these as approximate.

About this tool

These are the documented default breakpoint values shipped by Bootstrap 5 and Tailwind CSS — both frameworks let you override them in your own project configuration (Sass variables for Bootstrap, --breakpoint-* theme variables in Tailwind v4 or tailwind.config.js in v3), so treat these as a starting reference rather than a fixed standard. The device size categories are common rough conventions, not a formal spec — real device viewport widths vary by model, zoom level, and orientation. The highlighted row above updates live as you resize this window, based on your browser's current innerWidth, which is the width media queries use (it includes any scrollbar). Browser zoom changes this number: at 200% zoom, a 1,280px window reports 640px.
