Cover Letter Builder
Build a cover letter for a UK job application from a few prompts: why this role, the evidence that you can do it, and why this employer. It lays out the letter properly and keeps it to one page.
About this tool
A good cover letter answers three questions in under a page: why this job, why you, and why this employer. Recruiters skim, so the evidence section matters most: specific achievements with numbers (“grew the list from 4,000 to 11,000”) beat general claims (“excellent communicator”). Match your points to the job description, in the same order of importance.
Address it to a named person if you can find one; the letter then closes “Yours sincerely”, or “Yours faithfully” if it opens “Dear Sir or Madam”. The word count helps you keep it to one side of A4, around 250 to 400 words. Copy the letter into the employer’s form, a Word document or an email. Your details are remembered on this device for the next application.
