About this tool

Paste a list of places from a spreadsheet, email or GPS export. Each line can use a different format: decimal degrees, degrees-minutes-seconds or degrees and decimal minutes, with or without N, S, E and W. Put a name before or after the coordinates, separated by a comma, and it’s kept. A CSV with a header row containing latitude and longitude (or lat and lng) columns is recognised automatically. Lines that can’t be read are listed by number, so nothing goes missing quietly.

Choose “longitude, latitude” for systems that expect x before y, such as GeoJSON-based tools and many databases; GeoJSON, WKT and GPX always use the order their standards require. Six decimal places is about 10 cm, more than any phone GPS can deliver, so five is plenty for most uses. GPX waypoints open in Garmin devices, OS Maps, Komoot and most hiking apps. Your list is remembered on this device.
