IP Geolocation Lookup
See roughly where an IP address is, including your own, with its town, country and network, and find out straight away if an address is private or reserved and can’t be located.
About this tool
Every device on the internet is reached through an IP address, and databases link public addresses to the internet provider and area they’re assigned to. That gives a rough location, usually the right country and often the right region or town, but not a street or house: it’s typically where the provider’s equipment is. Mobile networks, company networks, VPNs and privacy services often point to somewhere else entirely.
The address is checked in your browser first. Private addresses such as 192.168.1.1 (home routers), loopback addresses such as 127.0.0.1 and other reserved ranges are explained without any lookup, because they don’t belong to anywhere on the public internet. Nothing is sent until you press Look up. The lookup asks ipapi.co, a third-party service, for the location of the address you entered, or of your own connection if you leave the box blank, so that service sees your IP address. Free lookups are limited, so if it stops answering, try again later.
