Speed, Distance & Time Calculator
Work out speed, distance or time from the other two, in miles, kilometres, mph, km/h or knots, with running and walking pace per mile and per kilometre.
About this tool
Choose what you want to work out and fill in the other two, in whatever units you have. Speed equals distance divided by time, so a 10 km run at 12 km/h takes 50 minutes. Times can be typed as hours, minutes and seconds (1:05:30), in words (1 h 5 min) or as decimal hours (1.5). The results show every speed unit and the pace per kilometre and per mile, which is how runners and walkers usually think about speed.
Use the presets to plan a race: enter your target finishing time to get the pace to hold, or your usual pace to predict a finish. Knots (nautical miles per hour) are used at sea and in aviation. Remember that the answer is an average: real journeys include stops, hills and traffic, and road speed limits in the UK are in miles per hour. Your last entries are remembered on this device.
