Wi-Fi QR Code Generator

Make a QR code that joins your Wi-Fi in one scan, and print a “scan to join” card for guests, customers or holiday lets.

The password is only used to draw the code. It isn’t saved or sent anywhere.

About this tool

Enter your network name and password exactly as the router shows them, because both are case-sensitive. Most iPhones and Android phones join straight from the camera app: point it at the code and tap the prompt. Older phones may need a QR scanner app.

The code holds your network details in the standard Wi-Fi format, so anyone who can see it can read the password. That’s fine on a guest network, but think twice before displaying the code for your main network in public. If your router has a guest network, use that for visitors. If you change the password, make a new code, because the old one will stop working.

Characters that have a special meaning in the Wi-Fi format, such as semicolons and colons, are escaped for you. The tool checks the rules routers use, a network name of up to 32 bytes and a WPA password of 8 to 63 characters, so a mistyped password is caught before you print. Your network name is remembered on this device; the password never is.
