Fake Data Generator
Generate realistic UK test data, including names, addresses, postcodes, phone numbers, emails and dates of birth, using numbers and domains reserved so they can’t reach a real person.
About this tool
Test data should look real without belonging to anyone. Mobile numbers come from 07700 900000 to 900999 and landlines from the matching city ranges, which Ofcom reserves for TV, radio and fiction and never gives out, so a test text or call can’t reach a real person. Emails use example.com, example.org and example.net, which are reserved for documentation and never deliver mail. National Insurance numbers start with QQ, a prefix HMRC never issues.
Postcodes use the right area for each town (M for Manchester, LS for Leeds and so on) in a valid format, so they pass form validation, but they’re made up and may not be a real delivery address. Names reflect the mix of first names and surnames common in the UK, including apostrophes and accents, which are good at catching bugs in forms and databases. Choose CSV for spreadsheets, JSON for code, or SQL to load straight into a database table; values are quoted and escaped correctly. Your field choices are remembered on this device.
