About this tool

Choose what the code should do, fill in the details and the code updates as you type. Scanning a link opens it, an email code opens a new message with the address, subject and text filled in, a phone code offers to call, a text message code opens a message ready to send, and a location code opens the phone’s map app.

Error correction lets a code still scan when part of it is scratched, smudged or covered. Medium suits most uses; choose High if the code will be printed small, used outdoors or have a logo placed over it. More correction makes a denser code, so keep the content short. If the content allows, the tool raises the level automatically when it costs nothing in size. Keep the code dark on a light background and leave the quiet zone (the plain border) at 4 modules, because phone cameras rely on both.

The codes are static: the content is stored in the pattern itself, so they never expire and don’t depend on any service. That also means a printed code can’t be changed later, so check it scans before you print a batch. Everything is made in your browser, and your last entry and design settings are remembered on this device.
