About this tool

A skip link lets keyboard and screen reader users jump past the header and menu straight to the content, instead of tabbing through every link on every page. It's the first focusable thing on the page, hidden off-screen until it receives focus and then shown at the top left. WCAG 2.4.1 (Bypass Blocks) asks for a way to skip repeated content, and a skip link is the simplest.

The generated code gives the target tabindex="-1" so focus really moves there in every browser, keeps the link visible and underlined with a strong focus outline when it appears, and turns off the slide-in animation for people who prefer reduced motion. Make sure the id you choose matches an element on your page; the tool tidies ids that contain spaces.
