About this tool

Screen reader users often pull up a list of every link on a page and choose from it, so each link's text has to make sense on its own. “Click here” and “read more” don't say where they go; “Read our pricing plans” does. The checker works out each link's accessible name the way a screen reader does, so aria-label and the alt text of an image inside the link both count.

It also flags links with no name at all (usually an icon or image with empty alt), bare URLs, the same text pointing to different pages, links that open a new tab without warning, href="#" or javascript: links that should be buttons, and an aria-label that doesn't include the visible words, which breaks voice control under WCAG 2.5.3. Your HTML is read safely without running any scripts.
