About this tool

Every form field needs a label that is both visible and linked to it in the code, either with <label for="id"> or by wrapping the field in the <label>. Placeholder text is not a label: it vanishes when you start typing, which is hard for anyone relying on memory, and screen readers don't always read it. aria-label works for screen readers but can't be seen, so keep it for fields whose purpose is obvious, such as a search box next to a Search button.

The checker also catches labels whose for points at an id that doesn't exist (a common copy-and-paste slip), ids used twice, radio buttons and checkboxes with no <fieldset> and <legend> to say what question they answer, and personal-data fields such as email and phone without autocomplete, which WCAG 1.3.5 asks for. Your HTML is read safely without running any scripts.
