Hash Comparison Tool
Paste two hash values to check whether they match — handy after copying a checksum from a download page.
About this tool
Paste the hash you worked out (for example with the File Hash Checker) and the one published by the download site. For hex hashes, the comparison ignores upper and lower case, spaces, colons and dashes, and a 0x prefix, so a fingerprint written as AB:CD:EF… matches abcdef…. A file name after the hash, as in a line copied from a SHA256SUMS file, is ignored too.
Base64 hashes are compared exactly, because in Base64 A and a are different values. When the hashes don't match, the tool tells you where they first differ, or whether they're different lengths, which usually means one is SHA-1 and the other SHA-256. A mismatch means the file is different from the original: download it again, and don't use it if it still doesn't match.
