This is an approximation of Google's real rendering. Google measures rendered pixel width using its own fonts and metrics (which aren't published), rather than counting characters. This tool approximates that using an Arial-based canvas measurement and commonly cited widths: on desktop about 600px for titles and 920px for descriptions, and on mobile about two lines of title and 680px of description — actual results in Google Search can vary by device, query, and ongoing changes Google makes to its snippet rendering.

About this tool

Google cuts titles and descriptions by how wide they are on screen, not by how many characters they contain, so a title full of capital Ws runs out of room sooner than one full of lowercase i's. This tool measures your text in an Arial font similar to Google's and cuts it at the commonly cited limits for desktop and mobile, adding an ellipsis where Google would. The counters show both characters and approximate pixel width, and flag text that will be cut or that leaves room for more.

Enter the page's real URL to see it as Google shows it, with the site name and the path as breadcrumbs. Bear in mind that Google sometimes rewrites titles and often writes its own description from the page content, depending on the search, so the best you can do is give it a strong title and description to use. Results also vary by device and change as Google adjusts its layout.
