Filler words and inflated phrases — "just", "basically", "in order to", "at this point in time" — add length without adding meaning. This tool matches a list of common offenders, highlights them in your original text, and produces a cleaned version with them removed (and multi-word phrases shortened, e.g. "in order to" becomes "to"). A capital letter is restored where a removed word started a sentence. It's a simple word-boundary match, so always give the cleaned result a quick read — removing a word such as "rather" or "probably" can sometimes change the meaning.
