Document Font/Style Consistency Checker
Find the text in a Word document that’s in a different font or size from the rest, such as paragraphs pasted in from emails or the web, with the offending text shown.
About this tool
Mixed fonts are one of the commonest signs of a document stitched together from different sources. The checker works out how every piece of text actually looks, following Word's own rules: the document's default font, then the paragraph style and the styles it's based on, then any character style, then formatting applied directly. Theme fonts such as “+Body” are resolved to their real names. It then reports which fonts and sizes the body text uses, by share of the text, and lists the passages that don't match the main one.
Headings, titles and subtitles are reported separately because they're meant to look different. Text marked “set directly” has formatting applied by hand rather than through a style; the cleanest fix is usually to select it and press Ctrl+Space (Cmd+Space on a Mac) to clear it back to the style. The file is read in your browser and never uploaded.
