Timing follows the standard Morse convention: a dash is three times as long as a dot, the gap between the dots and dashes of one character is one dot-length, the gap between characters is three dot-lengths, and the gap between words is seven. Changing the words-per-minute speed changes the length of a single dot, which scales everything else proportionally. Characters with no defined Morse mapping are simply skipped.
