Basic SQL Injection Pattern Tester

Paste a piece of text to see which common SQL-injection-style patterns it contains — an educational pattern-matching demo, not a security scanner.

Educational tool only. This scans text for substrings and patterns that commonly appear in SQL injection payloads, purely to help you recognise what they look like. It is not a web application firewall or security product, it will miss novel or obfuscated injection techniques (false negatives), and it will also flag some entirely legitimate input that happens to contain these substrings (false positives). The real, correct defence against SQL injection is always parameterised queries / prepared statements — never string-matching on user input.

About this tool

This tool runs a handful of regular expressions over the text you paste and flags any that match a category commonly associated with SQL injection attempts: tautology conditions (' OR '1'='1), comment-based truncation (--, #, /* ... */ after a quote), UNION-based injection, stacked queries (a semicolon followed by another statement), suspicious keywords (xp_cmdshell, sp_executesql, INFORMATION_SCHEMA, SLEEP(), BENCHMARK(), WAITFOR DELAY), and basic encoding tricks (hex literals, URL-encoded quotes).

It exists purely for learning and defensive awareness — to help developers recognise what textbook SQLi payloads look like. It cannot replace actually fixing the vulnerability: always use parameterised queries/prepared statements, validate and constrain input server-side, and apply least-privilege database accounts. A text scanner like this one can always be bypassed by an attacker who varies the payload, so it should never be relied on as an actual defence.
