Your image is processed entirely in your browser using the canvas API — nothing is uploaded anywhere. Colours are grouped by similarity and ranked by how much of the image they cover.
Shades that look almost the same (a CIEDE2000 difference under 10, such as the light and shadow sides of the same wall) are merged into one swatch, so each colour you get is genuinely distinct. The percentage on each swatch is roughly how much of the picture it covers; transparent areas of PNGs are ignored. Choose how many colours you want, click a swatch to copy it, or copy the lot as CSS variables.
