Colour Blend Interpolator
Blend between two colours in a set number of steps, with the hex code for each step and a choice of blend space for cleaner in-between colours.
About this tool
Gives you a set of evenly spaced colours between two end points, from 2 to 30 steps, ready for a chart scale, a set of UI states or a heat map. Click any code to copy it, copy the whole list, or use the CSS gradient line.
The blend space changes the colours in between. sRGB, the classic method, averages the red, green and blue numbers directly; it’s what older CSS gradients and most image editors do, and it often gives a muddy, greyish middle (blue to yellow goes through grey). OKLab blends by perceived lightness and colour, so the steps look evenly spaced and the middle stays clean. OKLCH also keeps the colours saturated by travelling round the hue wheel, which can pass through extra hues (blue to yellow via green or pink). Linear light behaves like overlapping beams of light and gives brighter midpoints.
