    About this tool

Almost every worker in the UK is entitled to 5.6 weeks of paid holiday a year. For someone working five days a week that's 28 days, which is also the legal maximum, so working six days a week still gives 28. Employers can include bank holidays in this total, and many contracts give more than the minimum, so check yours.

If you work irregular hours or only part of the year, holiday for leave years starting on or after 1 April 2024 builds up at 12.07% of the hours you work in each pay period: work 100 hours and you earn 12.07 hours of holiday. If you join or leave part way through the leave year on a regular pattern, tick the box to get a pro-rata share for the dates you work. This tool covers the statutory minimum only; Acas and GOV.UK have full guidance.
