UK cars quote fuel economy in miles per imperial gallon, but fuel is sold by the litre, which makes the sum awkward: one UK gallon is 4.546 litres. This does the conversion for you, and also takes US mpg, litres per 100 km, km per litre or, for an electric car, miles per kWh or kWh per 100 km with your price per kWh.
Add tolls, parking and ferry fares to get the full cost, and share it between the people in the car. Real-world economy on a motorway with a loaded car is often 10 to 15% worse than the official figure, so it’s worth using your car’s trip computer average. Your figures are saved on this device.
