About this tool
Uses the browser's built-in relative time formatter, comparing your chosen date and time against right now — the kind of phrasing you'd see under a social media post or comment. It updates live, so you can watch “in 5 minutes” count down.
Rounding follows the usual conventions: under 45 seconds is counted in seconds, under 45 minutes in minutes and under 22 hours in hours, with “yesterday” and “tomorrow” for a day either side. Months and years are counted on the calendar rather than as 30 or 365 days, so a date exactly two months ago says “2 months ago”. The exact difference is shown underneath for when “about” isn’t good enough.
