UK companies and LLPs must show their registered name, registered number, the part of the UK they’re registered in and their registered office address on business emails, under the Companies Act 2006 trading disclosure rules. Sole traders and partnerships trading under a different name must give the owners’ names and an address. Registered charities with income over £10,000 must say they’re a registered charity. The footer includes whichever of these applies to your business.
For marketing emails, PECR requires you to identify yourself and give a simple, free way to opt out in every message, and you should act on unsubscribes promptly. If you email people in the US, the CAN-SPAM Act also needs a valid postal address and opt-outs honoured within 10 business days.
