About this tool
A DMCA notice asks a US-based host, platform or search engine to remove copies of your work. To be valid under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), it must contain six things: your signature, the original work, the infringing material and where it is, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorised, and a statement under penalty of perjury that the notice is accurate and you’re authorised to act. This generator includes all six. Send it to the platform’s copyright form or its designated agent, listed in the US Copyright Office’s DMCA directory.
The UK and EU have no DMCA, but hosts lose their legal protection if they know about unlawful material and don’t act quickly, under the UK’s Electronic Commerce Regulations 2002 and the EU’s Digital Services Act. The UK and EU version gives the host the precise details they need to act. Before sending, check the use isn’t covered by fair dealing or fair use, such as criticism, review or news reporting: knowingly false claims can make you liable for the other side’s costs.
