Database Connection String Builder
Fill in your database details and get a ready connection string for common formats.
About this tool
Pick the database, fill in the details and copy the result. MySQL, PostgreSQL and MongoDB use the URL format (scheme://user:password@host:port/database), and any characters in the user name or password that would break a URL, such as @, :, / or #, are percent-encoded for you, so p@ss:word becomes p%40ss%3Aword. That's the most common reason a hand-written connection string fails. SQL Server uses the key=value; format, with values that contain a semicolon or quote wrapped in quotes; leave the user name blank to get Windows (integrated) authentication. Leave the port blank to use the driver's default.
Everything is built in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere, but the result contains your password in plain text, so keep it out of source control. An environment variable or a secrets manager is the safer place for it.
